Hey guys! So back in January (in my brunette days) I was asked by Desire Kaniki. to assist with styling a shoot for photographer YIN. The above photos are some of the behind the scene action that went on. It was one of the first times I ever got to go on set for a real photo shoot so of course I was super excited. Going on set made me feel all cool and sophisticated and mature and shit (professional, I know). All I gotta say is I was really privileged to have had this experience and hope to do more stuff like this in the future. To see some of the final photos click here.

As you know my full name is Paolina Alexandra Russo. Some people (mostly my family and close friends) call me by my first name Paolina. But I am also called by my second name Alexandra. It kind of gets confusing, almost like I'm leading some sort of double life like Hannah Montana. Just so you guys don't get confused, when Desire refers to Alexandra in the video, hes talking about me, Paolina.

I asked our makeup artist Tami El Sombati to work some of her makeup magic on me to look nice for a commercial audition I had later that day. I don't know how she did it but she got my skin to glow, a glow in which I have tried to recreate at home with my crappy drug store makeup kit. But its just doesn't happen for me, I don't posses her fairy makeup abilities. My friend Haley got some video of it going on. My sister constantly makes fun of me for the "over dramatic" face/eye thingy I give at about 0:14. Im just an over dramatic person in general so she shouldn't be too surprised.

This is the outfit I wore on Tuesday. I've been feelin' the grunge and feelin the sparkle. I have been wearing this headband a lot lately. Now that I have my hair dyed a a very strawberry blonde colour I feel like hats and headpieces look so much better on me (conceited much?). I really need to make some new head pieces though so expect to see some of those in the future (tutorial maybe?). Here are a few close ups of my hair.

Fuck Yeah! There is just so much teenage angst in this photo. Im LOL-ed so much while writing this.

In other news last month I was featured on GuestofaGuest.com where they listed me as one of the top bloggers under 18. I was really honored and surprised to be put on there with such names as Tavi Gevinson (The Style Rookie), Willie Greene (WeTheUrban) and Arabelle Sicardi (Fashion Pirate). I look up to all three of them so I totally had a fan girl freak out moment when I first found out (which was during the middle of the School Musical. I got a text from my mom and immediately started hyperventilating and screaming oh my god to myself. The rest of the audience was not amused). You can check out the article here, I was number SIX.

I have a lot of great posts planned for the next month. And i know what your thinking: 'she's just gonna take another mysterious hiatus and were not gonna see another post until next month blah blah blah blah blah.' But I actually took the time to plan out these posts this week with pictures and writing and everything. So its super legit. No more breaks.

I also have a few goals I want to accomplish for Calur Villade in the next few months before school ends. Im in the process of setting up an online store, selling some of my clothes, and headbands and jewelry. It's just that setting up an online shop can be tricky for a computer-challenged girl like me so don't expect anything too soon.

Another thing I want to accomplish before summer hits is to create a ZINE. Yes, you heard me right, a Zine. Its something that has been on my mind a lot mainly. I know if i put the time and effort in I can make something really awesome involving art, fashion and photography etc. I have a few ideas on the table and have already started talking with a few of my friends on concepts and photo shoots. But I would also love for you guys to contribute too! With either writing, or pictures or art or DIYs. But lets brainstorm first. What do you want to see in a zine? And also, What are some of your favorite zine's? I want to read some more to get some inspiration for mine. The only zine I have ever read is Butch by the lovely and talented Roma. So if you write a zine, or know of some good ones let me know and I'll check it out!

I have much much more I want to talk about with you guys but I'll save it for the posts to come. I have received a lot of emails from you readers in the last month, and I'm sorry if I haven't replied to you yet. Its taking me a while to sift through them all and I don't want to give you guys shitty half-ass responses.

!Grunge Fever!

This is the outfit I wore to school today. I' ve been bouncing between different styles and inspirations, and lately I have been feeling the 90s grunge look. I mean I am all about colour, but there is something about the darkness and the "I dont give a fuck"-ness about the 90s that is just so cool I can't help but fall in love.

^SEE! How bad ass is that picture right there. The layering is perfect.

^and while I am not as cool as them, you know i try. I don't know if you know this but I have a little bad ass in me.

In other news I got this really awesome skirt for Christmas. Its not so much a direct present from anyone, rather a present I bought for myself with some of the Value Village gift certificates I got from my relatives. And as you may be able to tell by the photo below this skirt makes me extremely happy.

These next two weeks I am planning on doing more posts like these. Just really quick updates of what I am wearing that day. With exams coming up I don't have a ton of time to write and do photo shoots. But they will come eventually, along with some other exciting fashion stuff I did over the break (SPOILER ALERT: I helped style some photo shoots). So look forward to those. I hope everybody had an amazing holiday. And I want to wish a great big HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my followers. 2011 was a great year for my blog, I did some fun posts, gained more followers and developed my style into something I love. I saw this nosebleed lipstick thingy on tumblr and had to try it out.

Oh Hai! I am finding it so hard to get back into the blogging spirit again. There were literally days this past week where I just stared at my blog for hours trying to figure out how to start posting again. I was kinda in a rut for a while but i thought it best for me to just dive right into it and go from there. It was so awkward to take photos again too. I haven't cam whored for over a month so my posing/face was a bit stiff/confused. Really confused. Ahhrg even writing is weird. I don't know what to talk about...

Well, this past month was total hell for me with my schoolwork. And art! So much art stuff been going on with me, I am going to take some photos of what I have been working on to show you guys. I honestly slept this whole week to make up for all the rest i lost.

I went on some shopping endeavors. At the half off sale at value village I bought a shit ton of accessories. My favorites were:

It's been a long time since I came around

Im almost 99% sure I have used this title before but it is only appropriate because I have not updated my blog in....FOREVER. But I am still alive :) YAAAYY. I just went through some of the hardest few weeks of my life with my schoolwork and assignments. I feel like I have been missing out on a lot of great blogging opportunities this past month and that sucks. The good news is I'm back, and ill start posting normally by NEXT WEEK. Oh Hay Der! I want to share with you guys the costume I wore for Halloween. Though I don't really classify it as a costume because I am definitely wearing this outfit again.I went as a sugar skull skeleton. Kind of lazy/cheap of me because I already had the pants and I knew I could make the top. I only really spent money on the face paint. Halloween was so much fun this year. I finally dressed up (which I rarely do for Halloween and I snatched up all the candy in my neighborhood while trick or treating. My neighbors now know me as 'that one 16 year old that still trick or treats.' But you know what? Age is not a factor that will come between me and free candy. So they better be prepared because I am coming around next year :).

SKELETON LEGGINGS DIY (literal titles at its finest)

My pants are a bit worn down, as you can tell by the photo. I have worn them a million times so I am planning on making another pair. Another thing you may notice is that my pants have the hip bone. Some of you may want to wear your leggings under a dress, or skirt so the hip part wont show, but I wear mine as pants so it looked weird without the hip bone. Its not that hard to do. I just measured the width and length of the hip part of my pants, then based on those measurements drew out the bone shape, cut it out and glued it. Just the same as I had done with the rest of the bones I cut out. But you only need to take that extra step if you want to.

SO if you where wondering what I have been doing lately, here's a mini photo diary:

I have been putting eyes on my nails,

Learning how to drive, look at that muscle definition,

Meeting Tom from Plain White Tees in Loblaws, and having pizza with him,

(This is me telling to cold, dry toronto air to FUCK OFF^)Waiting 7 hours in the freezing cold to see one of my favourite bands Never Shout Never. (I am not usually the kind of person to listen to music like that, and people think its really odd when I tell them I am a Never Shout Never fan but I REALLY AM, and I had the best time. I wish I could type more about the concert but I actually have so much homework).

I didnt get a decent photo of my outfit that day. I wish you could see my dress, I made it :(. My logic for this outfit was "its probably gonna be really hot and sweaty during the concert so I should wear less clothing." I was WRONG. Yes it was very hot and sweaty during the concert, but i forgot about the waiting outside in the cold part, so I am currently very very sick.

I am currently making a skeleton top to go with my leggings for my costume tomorrow. As much as I love Halloween i honestly have not dressed up for the past 3 years. Though when I went out people thought i was dressed up when I am not. For the past two weeks I have had people approach me telling me they like my costume.........and I always reply "This is not a costume, it's just day wear." I find it funny though, and never take it to offence. I know a lot of people just wear crazy things for shits and giggles and attention. But I genuinely love to wear what I do, and the comments are just a side thing.

Everything is Thrifted except for the headpiece which I made (Pipe cleaners and Sequin Eyes FTW).

I have been feeling quite "Meadham Kirchoff-y" lately. I don't know what it is, I am just in LOVE with those two designers, and would do anything to own an actual piece by them. Everything they create is a perfect mix of everything I like; one part grunge, one part witchy and one part electric.

In other news I bought some really sick-ass sunglasses at the Salvation Army two dollar sale a few weeks ago....

SOOO, uhhmmmm how amazing are these sunglasses. I still can't get over it, THEY ARE IN THE SHAPE OF SPIDER WEBS. And if you look closely they have a spider web pattern on them. They just look soo amazing with everything, I wear them 24/7. I get really excited over cool stuff like this, I believe this is one of the best thrift finds I have had in a while. I'll definitely post some pictures of me wearing them in future outfit posts.

I don't have much to say now because I am in the middle of an art session. The painting that I am working on right now has gotten me really excited and I have found myself using up all my free time working on it. I'll get some good pictures of it in the next few weeks so you guys can see the process.

Oh Hey der ppl! Yes Paolina again with another 'I haven't posted in so long" post. SAWWWY. Ive been totally busy with art and homework and projects.....

and eating my feelings away because of all these yucky school things. (Image via MY TWITTER. if you didnt already know I got a twitter account, so follow me and tweet me....Im lonely)

But I'm totally happy to finally be finished everything. That means I can spend more time with YOU! YES! Just YOU! (creeped out yet? I am...) I have finally gotten around to uploading all the photos I took Thanksgiving weekend. So keep your eyes peeled for that later this week.

In other cool news the lovely Miss Roma of Disheveled Trend has chosen me to be on the cover of the first ever issue of her Zine "BUTCH." And may I just add that is the BEST title of any Zine by far. I am so flattered and I am so excited to see what the final product is! I have been following this chick for a while now and I must preach that this girl is amazing, so go check out her out.

Is It Halloween Yet?

Yay! It's October, my uber fav month. It has been getting a little chilly outside, so i'm finally able to wear actual clothing. I'm planning on some great posts in the next week. My haul post is coming, though its taking time. There is another 2 dollar sale at Salvation Army this week so I decided to do a little best buys of the month post instead a haul post would be like 10 pages long . I'm really happy you guys liked the skeleton pants so Ill do a DIY post for that as well. And to finish things off I have a long weekend this weekend (Thanksgiving tingz) so I will probably have time to put together some cool photoshoot shiz that you all know and love. I can't really say much now, I'm supposed to get a good nights sleep so I stop passing out in class.

Sleepless Night

Lots of layers, it was 2 last night.

Everything is Thrift except for the skeleton gloves; Dollarama, and the skeleton leggings which are DIY (if you wanna know how to make them I could do a DIY post, let me know in the comments below!!). I have been playing with my hair lately. It has gotten so long so the possibilities are endless. Half milkmaid braids half down was my thing last night. Hopefully I will be dyeing it soon! Now im feeling like red hair.

Last Night/This morning two of my friends and I went to Nuit Blanche. It was really fun, lots of cool art all around Toronto from 7pm to 7am. One of my favorites was this structure in the picture above^. I forgot what it was called but all I remember was that array of glass triangles stuck together that represented the stats of the raising number of lower incomes families in Toronto. I didnt take a lot of pictures from the night with my camera, but my friend took some great shots with his SLR, so ill see if i can get those photos from him. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Only two pictures here for you goober faces. I really had no time to take pictures this morning/ even edit this evening so this is the result. Went for ethnic-bindi-90s-gwen vibes today. I wish I could have got more detailed pictures, my makeup was really sparkly and that jacket is supa cool (made from multicolored wires). As you can tell by my writing I am in a bit of a rush, I have a huge anthro project due tomorrow about serial killers of all things so I gotta finish the power point. Hope all had a good hump day. I wish I could pull a Regina George's mom on you guys and make you a hump day treat. But alas virtual friends....I cannot.

Another really quick post here. I was too busy last week with school and other blah things to post anything new, so saawwyyy. And sorry for always saying sorry for not having the time to post, but really what kind of blogger would I be if I wasn't constantly apologizing for not posting. Really....we all do it (yes, you too!). But I have missed you guys! This is what I wore today. Simple, but it has been extremely hot outside lately so I have had no choice but to wear less clothes. The dress kinda reminds me of Viktor & Rolf Spring 2011, minus the super awesome sleeves that season.

I will attempt to update everyday this week with what I am wearing that day. Kinda give you a look into my day to day life monday-friday. So get ready to see more off centered and blurry photos (courtesy of my dad the make-shift photographer).

DIY BELT NECKLACE TINGZ (The creativity of my titles never cease to amaze me)

I want to try a little DIY post for you guys. I have never done a DIY post before but I do tons of DIYs in my spare time and this one is so fast and easy I just had to share. When I was looking at the picture of the belt necklace below my first thought was, "CA'UUUTE." Then my second thought was, "I COULD TOTALLY MAKE THAT." So I did. And It literally cost me zero cash.

First thing you will need A BELT. Obviously. I think I've worn this belt in a few posts before but I got bored of it and thought it could be put to better use. You will also need SCISSORS and something to mark the belt with, I chose to use FABRIC CHALK but a pencil or marker will do too. You might also need a sharp NAIL and or SCREWDRIVER.

STEP 1: Wrap the belt around your neck to MEASURE how large the belt necklace should be.

STEP 2: Make a MARK on the belt according to your measurements. CUT.

STEP 3: I CURVED the end of the belt necklace so it looked more like a belt.(if that makes sense?)

STEP 4: MEASURE the belt again on your neck and MARK where you want to put the buckle hole.

STEP 5: To MAKE A HOLE you can use the scissors but if you are having a hard time piercing through the belt you can use a nail and/or a screwdriver to pierce through. Make sure the hole is large enough to fit the belt buckle and add extra holes to make it look more "belt-y"

AND VOILA!

You could also do a bunch of thin belts and layer them up, or even a studded belt could be cool too. Or this could work for a really cool bracelet too. I think I might bedazzle this one later. The choices are endless. I think it is the perfect little accessory to add some extra edge. Kinda looks like a dog collar/ kinda harness-esque. I did this in like five minutes so I am sure you guys can do a way much better job than me. "Urban" Like That....

Last week I was planning on doing a post on my blog of every outfit I wore those first three days of school. There was only one problem. The memory of me making this so-called plan I had occurred to me on Friday so you're only getting one outfit. The first Friday of the school year was nothing special. Very nonchalant. But I was feeling somewhat goth that week in terms of clothing. It was my way of expressing the funeral of summer I guess. Oh summer, how I will miss thee!

The school year has been great so far, considering it has only been three days. The courses I have for this semester: American History, Anthropology, Lunch (my fav subject), World Religion and my Visual Art course. I took a lot of social studies courses this year because I am "urban" like that . Also, as you may have noticed cut my bangs(myself I may add) because I am SO rebellious. I'm also planning on dyeing it (colour suggestions anyone?). Did I also mention I run a fashion blog? I wreak with urbaness and teenage rebellion. But sarcasm aside I am so excited for my courses and I am planning on doing something cool with my hair soon, I am just unsure of what so suggestions are encouraged :).

The haul post is coming, I swear. You would be viewing it on your computer screen right now but my mom thought it would be the best idea to to go to Canada's Wonderland this past weekend when I was planning on taking some of the pictures. So it was either stay at home and take pictures of myself alone in my room or a day of fun in the sun and roller coasters. You get the picture.

I'm planning on taking more casual posts during school year to keep you up to date with what I am wearing and what interests me at the time. I don't know if everyone is totally aware of this but the outfits that I post on my blog are actual outfits I wear out or would wear out unless stated otherwise. I also want to post more of mys shopping finds. I foresee a great shopping adventure in the near future that I'll talk about more later. I still will keep up with my editorial-like posts, I love doing those crazy posts, they are so much fun. But I want to update my blog more often and I find doing posts like those take a long time and posts like these only take five minutes in the morning. So cheers to more updating on Calur Villade.

Hey Guys! Yes, it is Paolina here. Sorry for being so crappy with updating this week. The Salvation Army 2 dollar sale and VV half off sale haul post is coming soon. Everything I bought the past week has had to go through the washing machine. But everything is finally washed now so expect that post soon.

Now on to the point of this whole post. I wanted to talk to you guys about this cool thing I have been working on (wow how generic, a 'Thing'). A few weeks ago I was contacted by the super fabulous people of Woolmark about their campaign Fashion by Feelings. Its main idea is to educate people about wool being a natural renewable fiber and encourage them to incorporate more wool into their wardrobe. They do this through creating a kind of lookbook site where people post their wool outfits and you can vote for which one you like the best. I am totally gung-ho for their message and since practically half my wardrobe is wool (I am a hoarder of wool sweaters) there was no way I couldn't put together a cool look. I didn't want to go for just a wool sweater so I also wore a plaid wool skirt as well. You guys actually saw me in the process of figuring out what to wear for this picture a few posts back. I am really happy with how the photo turned out. It is very back to school girlish I find, which is right on time because school starts in two days.

99 Cent Dreams

This was a quick little photo shoot I did a few nights ago. A look inspired by tumblr photos I have reblogged yet again (FOLLOW ME ON TUMBLR PEOPLE if you havn't already!!). I love this look, it is very much Courtney Love/ Prom 1971/ 90s grunge/ a little Virgin Suicides. The dress was given to me by Momma Russo on my 15th birthday but I never really started wearing it until this year. Perfect summer dress for those last few hot days.

In other news I went shopping today. Their was a 2 dollar sale at Salvation Army so of course I had to go! I want to take some pictures of my haul to show you. I love sharing my finds, to show how awesome I am at thrifting (insert sarcasm, I am not that conceited I swear!). And in even better there is a Value Village Sale coming up next week so I will be set for back to school shopping (clothing wise, i haven't even began to think about school supplies, nor opened the backpack that has been sitting in the far corner of my room for three months).

Fuck yeah, Pastels!

This post was inspired by all the images that have made their way through my tumblr feed the past few days. (Thanks to all of you who followed my tumblr by the way). Kind of an ethnic, pastel, religious mix of vibes? I don't know but I like it. I have always been a fan of baby blue and pink combos. Reminds me of cupcakes. And unicorns. MS. Fitz and Life Thinking and Tumblr oh my!

I love bloggers these days. They are not only people who dress well, but who create amazing things too and there is no exception when it comes to the lovely and talented Ms.Fitz. I have mentioned her in a previous post for the Avant Gaurdians feature about me on her blog. (super thank-you's to all of you who checked it out). And most recently she contacted me with a preview with her ss2012 collection of accessories. I am a girl who loves her jewelry, as you can tell by the massive amounts of jewelry I hang on my body in each post so obviously I was excited to share this with you guys. Personal favorites are the Bling Ear to Nose clip and the Notted Wonder necklace with skulls. You can check out the rest of the collection here.

This got me thinking about what I want to do with my "future". I dont like using the f word a lot because I do not know what my future will entail (just like every other human being on this earth). But the reason i bring it up is because one of my dream jobs would be to become a jewelry designer of sorts. Or a designer. Or a stylist. Or something to do with fashion and art. The kid inside me says "OMFG THAT IS SO FREAKIN FRACKIN COOL DO IT," but the 65 year old bitchy woman in me says that it is impractical (I am not implying 65 year old women are bitchy, just the one inside my head). Very confusing I know but I will have to decide on what sort of path to take within the next two years. Ahhh scary. I want to know your thoughts though. If you are someone around my age what do you want to do in the future? And if you are older and have gone through all of this confusing decision making already how did you decide?

In other news I have made two attempts of taking photos for a new post this week. Both have failed miserably. But there is always a silver lining to every sob story. In other news I have been travelling.

My parents like to wake me up in the earliest hour of the morning to take spontaneous trips to god knows where for a day. This time we went to some random little town with a military background so there were tanks and war museums everywhere. I didn't have much time to get ready, it was a get up and go kind of situation so I grabbed whatever was on my floor. And wore whatever makeup was in my purse at the time. Hey guys! So I am very proud do say that I saw my first ever live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show a few nights back. The tickets were a gift from my dad for my birthday, front row tickets to be in fact. When he informed me that I was going I immediately started planning what I was to wear to the event. Thank God he told me a week in advance. I went hunting downtown and found the most perfect black lace gown at a store called Ego. The price tag said 40 dollars (ahh expensive much?), and though I had that amount of money in my pocket I didn't buy it. In my wacky head I thought, ' well I could just make this dress.' SOOOO I did! And I really want to gloat because it turned out way better than I expected. Waay cooler than the original dress it was modeled out to be. I also wanted a headband to match so I went down to Dollarama, bought a bouquet of fake flowers and after a little hot glue gunning viola! It was born. I even had enough flowers left over to make a second headband.

aw isn't it fun to make cool shit.

Now sum pix of da supa fun timez my friend and I had at Rocky Horror. And yes guys, I do smile. Though a smile is rare to find on my blog I am quite a happy ol chum in real life.

aannnndddd, that was all the pictures I took. There was no photography allowed during the show. I tried to sneak some in because I am badass but they all turned out blurry. But to get an idea of what I saw here are some fabulous photos I got off of the shows website.

July 25^th. The day this blog began (dramatic opening, I think so). On this day one year ago I made my very first post on my blog Calur Villade. Argg it was an awkward, shitty post to say the least and though I am super reluctant to give you a link to the page I will because you can search it on my archives anyways. So here it is. You happy?!

ANYWAY, today is the one year anniversary of my little blog being on the interwebs. Aww they’re always so cute when they hit one. I wanted to do something special relating to my first post ever so I shot the photos for this post where I shot my first post, at the front gate of my backyard. (I also incorporated the pink scarf I wore in that post too, I’m cool like that) At the time I thought my style was truly outrageous and was scared of my neighbors seeing me. So like the outfit conscious girl that I was I hid in the condiments of my backyard covered by trees and what not. But boy have things changed. I spent some time looking through the progress of my blog, how I’ve grown with what I post and it is totally mind boggling. I know that girl one year ago would never in a million years think she’d end up like me. But I am happy she did. I have learned so much the past year; not just through my blog and who I have met here but life outside my blog (yes bloggers can have lives too).

And now to you guys! (I have saved the best for last) I know you’re probably sick of hearing this, I say it all the time but I seriously love you all! This blog could not happen without the support you all have given me the past year. Whether you are old or new to my blog when you pressed that follow button you added more fuel to my drive to do cooler and better things. And your comments crack me up. It is so awesome that even if I was having a bad day, when I come home and check my blog you guys have nothing but love and insight. I’m going to stop myself now before I start sounding like a cheesy hallmark card or something to summarize this I love u guys x 10000000000000000000000000000.

Hey guys! It is currently past 1 am where I am living right now. But I need to post this!(excuse any spelling mistakes). I have so much to talk about with you guys. First things first, this is the outfit I wore to the MMVAS (seen here) with some adaptation. Can you see it? THE BOA ROBE! I LAV IT. I love it so much that I had to shoot it somewhere cool. Thankfully there is a festival in town next week and they had the rides just laying around. I got the robe and belt from a dance costume store that was having a moving sale. They had to sell everything. EVERYTHING! And it was so cheap, I got shoes and jewelery and clothes and headpieces. I went a little crazy, but I have been so busy with school and exams the past two monthes that I haven't done any shopping. But k, nuf bout shopping.

You'll see a few of my looks in the vid including me modeling (ahh). Also you will see this dress, and you will notice it is slightly different. The model had a neck piece on that was attached to the dress, which looked amazing! But sadly i had to cut her out of it at the end of the show meaning i couldn't show what the dress is supposed to look like in these photos, so check out dat link!

So what have i been up to the past few weeks? Well other than studying my ass off for exams I went to the MMVAs! (Much Music Video Awards) with some friends. I was there at the red carpet and got snapped for a few fashion segments.

Hey CalurVilladians. (I'm trying to figure out a name for all my blog followers. Any ideas?) Everyday this week I will be posting one of the five outfits I designed and created for my school's fashion show last week which will eventually lead up to the long waited NYC/ Alexander McQueen post. I know you guys have been wanting to see that for ever, but you'll just have to wait a little bit longer :). This look is one of the more casual looks I had in the collection. I had been contemplating on how I could still keep my style as the hot weather approached (a weather that does not mesh well with all my layering). There really is nothing like a shirt with cross' on the boobs. And to top it all off a halo! You gotta love that! If you guys have any questions about the outfit shoot em at me. 1000 Ways of Making Crop Tops and High Waisted Shorts, All In Black And White: Part 2

                        I will say straight up i was really disappointed by the show. Cue sad face :(
                                        So i will only talk of the things that I liked. Cue happy face :)

I was LMAO during the video at the beginning. The main models in the video had INTENSE face the whole way through. Haha, pouty mouth, scrunched eyebrows. The vid was kind of on the verge of trying too hard to be artsy and conceptual. Loud urban music only listened to by the coolest of hipsters. Models constantly staring into the distance, as if they are looking for the meaning of life or something. Little try hard, but well made non the less. The whole thing looked amazing paired with the set up of the stage. I commend the people who created the stage setting. A PLUS!

And then the clothes came out. It was a good 10 collections in that i found something i liked. To sum up what the whole show was just read the title. And i have nothing against a collection with black/ grey colour(or should I say shade) scheme. But come on people! The WHOLE SHOW! Ahhh. The colour you will see in the clothes to come were the only colourful pieces displayed in the show. And i am a girl who loves colour, not even an accent in sight. Maybe a shoe? Bracelet?! sigh

Best collection was by far was by a label "Caged In" by designer Kathryn Bennett. From my understanding these were costume designs, for maybe a play or something. But hell I'd wear it to school! Now it wasn't anything new. Victorian, lace, corsets, parasols, blah blah you know the story. But it was so contrasting to everything else, and so well put together that I was bound to notice it.

EPIC HATS! EPIC CAGED SKIRTS and....

Now going to the polar opposite of the very eccentric Caged In collection we meet designer Eunsil Ahn. So I am no fan of minimalism, or the black and white chic everyone seems to be into. But i loved this collection. The small details in the shirts and pants were what really made it for me. And so well made too. I would def. layer some of shirts with my Issey Miyake skirt (i love bragging about that skirt). And a Caged In headband ;)

Random Note: I want this ribcage skirt :) Maybe I'll make it.

Jeannie Yeoh: I appreciated this collection beaucoup (is my french correct? i was never a second language kind of gal).. It was definitely at higher risk to make a totally Avant Garde collection compared to their monochromatic minimalistic classmates. Though it wasn't "AMAZING" the thought was definitely there, and i really loved that metal accessory worn with that purple dress.

Swimmwear yay! Colour yay!

Now I don't have my Z+N book with me right now with all the designers names, so I dont know who the designer was of this collection at this moment. But when I get home i will update this post with those names. This was the only plus sized collection in the whole show. I kinda loved it, cool and goth these models were bad ass on the runway. I was really disappointed to see that the only demographic all the other designers were going for were young and skinny. Variety was not the strong part of this show.

I wont even get into menswear. Jackets, boots, pants, black. Mhmm we get it.

Polished, simple, I liked it.

Now just so you get a sense of the rest of the show...

Ta Da! There was a lot of this.

Now the funniest part of the show was this poor poor model. Yes, this poor poor model was put into this dress, with the most restricting skirt, only allowing most minimal room for her legs to move. It took a good 7 minutes for her to make it down the runway and then another 7 minutes back. Yes i'm bad for laughing at a persons mortifying moment. Hehe

But it was great for me, all the other models moved too fast for me to take photos of them. I took like 20 shots of this dress :)

Weerrrkkk Award goes to this model. She owned that runway. Sharp, Chic, Strut that shit girl.

So my Zenith+Nadir experience was cut short. We had to make it back to school before 3 therefor we had to leave early. And right when things seemed to be improving. Because you know what they say, "save the best for last." So i really don't know how the show ended. This was the last dress that I saw, nice drapery, liking the embellishments and accessories. I will never know how it ended, but I'm not too enthusiastic to find out. Final Paolina rating for the Ryerson Fashion Show: Meh. The attention to detail was perfect, they figured out all the little things from music to ticket design. But what they really missed out on was the big picture! THE CLOTHES! I can be a critical bitch but I am happy I went, it was a cool experience.I think i will go back next year.

1000 Ways of Making Crop Tops and High Waisted Shorts, all in Black and White: Part One

Blog neglect=Yes. But hey I'm on vacation right now, and I'm really good at chillaxing. But i thought this would be the perfect time to post about the Ryerson Fashion Show: Zenith + Nadir I went to 2 weeks ago. Just to warn you there is going to be a loot of photos so I split it up into two posts, just to make it easier for you folks :)

So when my class first got the Ryerson University we went straight to the exhibit. And i gotta say it really was the best part of the whole Zenith +Nadir experience. All the work was so professionally done and creative, it was hard to believe how young creators were..

My eyes were automatically drawn to these super cool wooden/mirror necklaces. Ahh so pretty.

I was really happy to see that a lot, well most of the exhibits had a lot to do with eco friendly fashion.

In Sight by Christina Thai
I actually spent half an hour just looking through this book. It was beautiful. The whole concept of the book was to give the reader insight of experiences of the visually impaired. It included a lot of tactile qualities suck as fabric and braille hidden in some pages. And the imagery is great, i wish i took more photos but i was too distracted with reading it :)

The time we had in the exhibit was really limited so i spent a loot more time looking around than taking photos. I recommend if your in the area next year you should check it out. Uh i love young creative people, this made me really happy and pumped for the show to come. But the show was a little bit of a different story.....

     Hey guys! Oh gosh these have been a busy few weeks. Recently I have started working on pieces for my line for the school fashion show. I am going to keep it a little bit of a secret until it is all fully finished firstly because i like to be mysterious and secondly because i don't fully know how it will look in the end. But you guys will surely get some glimpses.

     Like the halo on my head. Yes I made it. Yes I love it. Yes I will be making more cool halos for the other outfits. (I am very pumped!)

     I tested out my halo, wearing it out to the Ryerson Fashion Show I went to last week. I admittedly poked some people in the face with it, but ahh it is so fun to wear i can't wait to make/wear more!
     Oh and speaking of the Ryerson Fashion Show I am currently going through all the photos right now. I took like 1000 photos so its taking some time. But just a heads up, most of the show was a little blah. Same old same old high waisted shorts and crop tops in various shades of black, grey and white. But there are a few designers that caught my eye that i think you guys might like lav them too. Also the exhibit part of the show was AMAZING. Cant wait to show you guys.
     Now onto the outfit. This was kind of a spontaneous post. I just came back from fabric shopping and i decided to take the photos.

Laaavv the shoes? Me too! I love me some platform sneakers. I wish they were a little higher but what you gonna do? They are still great, and 6 bucks so I'm happy.

Now I am NOT usually a Label Queen, buuuut yess this is a Givenchy skirt :). I got it at The Great Estate Sale and when i first saw it a gawked over how beautiful the colour and length was. Then I saw it was Givenchy and gawked again. Then I saw it was like 8 bucks and gawked some more, and then i pulled out my wallet.

And now for my find of the week. Holy shit yess this is an Issey Miyake skirt. And hooollllllllyyyy shiiiittt I got it for 2 bucks!!!!! AHHH. I felt like an extreme couponer, using my 30% off Value Village card on something that was already so cheap.

Ohhh its so beautiful, I don't even want to wear it fearing I might dirty it. I'll get some proper outfit pictures of it later.

Anyway onto watching Criminal Minds with my mommy. My mom and I have recently become obsessed with the show. Ahh soo good.

Sorry guys for not posting in a while. I have been working my ass of this week for school, staying up late every night working, writing, sewing, painting, which resulted in me becoming the sick little monster I am right now (my sick PAWS UP). So today I am taking a sick day. Buuuuttt i will be putting up a proper post tomorrow, show you some of the stuff I have been working on this week as well as an outfit post. Hope you guys like these photos, I am in love with anything ZINK magazine does. When I'm sick i find myself spending hours on their website gushing over their pictures. If you follow my blog, you'll know this is my favourite pose.

My mailman was not too keen when I was lying in the way of the mailbox. Well I'll do anything for a cool photo.

This is what I call a fierce sneeze.

Like my headband? I made it a few days ago, just attaching some craft cages i bought to a headband (which i admittedly stole from my sister, which got in trouble for shortly after). There is even a bird in one of the cages :) They are like deformed cage mickey mouse ears,

This was an outfit I wore last week. My mom says I look a little like a peacock. Probably due to the makeup and feathered skirt, I really like the idea that i look like a bird. Everything I am wearing is thrifted, except for the clogs which I got from Joe Fresh. Yay, its warm enough outside for me to wear my clogs! I have maaanny outfits piled up on my bed that i still want to make posts for. I just haven't found the time for it yet, but i got a few shots today which makes me feel very accomplished (I never get this much work done!). Expect to see those in the future. ~~Probably this Friday, Friday, the day after Thursday. The day before Saturday, which is followed by Sunday. (Rebbecca Black~~ ~~reference). Haha~~ (wednesday 23 = post )

WAAAAIIIIT! I know everyone has heard, either over the news, or from a friend or family member that there has been an earthquake/ tsunami/ volcano eruption as well as a possible nuclear crisis destroying Japan right now. I hope that if you have family in Japan, I pray that you have been able to contact them and that they are safe. I am praying for everybody in Japan right now, I have many friends who have family there, and to think of what they just went through sends shivers down my spine. I have a friend who was supposed to leave on an airplane to the Philippines (a country that had a plausible chance of being hit by the tsunami) the night before the disaster hit Japan. I was so grateful to hear their voice tell me that by chance they never ended up leaving for the trip when i called them over the phone. The scariest things is that out there people made those same phone calls and no one answered.

Colour Villade Part 2

This is an outfit I wore yesturday. I love love love this hat. I picked it up from Value Village a few days ago for a buck! (Hell to the yes!) as well as the veil, which I found in the fabric section for 50 cents. Everything is thrift except for the earrings and skirt, which are DIYs. I don't know why, but I have been feeling so colourful lately, and I feel like this outfit was very inspired by everything I have seen on the runways for spring. Uhhhh spring and summer, getchyo ass to Canada. Please!

Hat made by me and makeup and photo done by me

This was a little photo shoot I did for fun a week ago. This isn't like the usual stuff I post, but I had fun doing it and I wanted to show you guys.To sum it all up the photo is about coming into your own. The flowers are representing your true self coming out and blooming for everyone else to see. The makeup and the overall look from the shoot was inspired by Fred Butlers 2009 Fall/Winter collection named Heliocentric Electric shot by Elisha Smith Leverock. There were many photos, but I don't want to post them all at once, depending if you guys want to see more or not. Let me know! This was one of my favourites taken. Wow i have not posted an outfit on the day I wore it in a long time. But here is my outfit today. I made this yarn web thing on the weekend. I didn't expect to wear it, but I had one of those "what the heck why not" moments. And I'm happy i did because i like it a lot, and it is very versatile. And yea, yea, yea, its not fall and its not Halloween, but I DON'T CARE. Spider web things are cool all year round.

This barrette has kind of been an inspiration for my outfits lately. Attatched to the clip are worry dolls. You like? (side not: notice a strand of my hair still attached to the hair clip. haha )

Ahhh so I need to sleep! I was trying really hard to make one of those moving photo thingy's, which you make on photobucket. (does that sentence make any sense?) But I fail at life and at technological things so I was unable to do so. I sound really stupid for saying this, but I actually don't know how! I will Google it and get back to you guys on that. And if anyone can spare any tips, please let me know!

rawr I am a tiger; PAWS UP

Happy Monday! I've been home all day today sick, bed ridden and bored out of my mind. And unable to go to the Value Village sale today. So when you mom says wear a scarf you should listen, or you'll end up like me! :(
I took these photos last week. I think I wore this outfit on Friday? hmmm I don't remember, all of this coughing has lead to massive memory loss and confusion. The outfit consists of many things, so this might be a long list:
Sheer black top, sandals and scarf tied around hair bun; thrifted
Patterned dress, velvet skirt; Mom's 80s closet
ruffle skirt; made by a friend
Belt; estate sale
Bracelets; pipe cleaners from the dollar store
ribbon to connect belt; Fabric Land
tights; gift (probably from Ardene's)
Hair headband (used as necklace) and cat earnings; no idea

the makeup is just white eyeliner scribbles all over my face, and black eyeliner for the eyes and eyebrow lines. It is kind of Black Swan inspired

This weekend I revisited some of my childhood favorite movies. (Princess Bride, The Little Mermaid, Spice World etc). But the best one by far was Labyrinth, so I leave you with the trailer (you guys should revisit it too).

Plaid Magazine x Paolina

So way way back in November I worked with Plaid Magazine on styling a photo shoot for an article they wrote about me. I worked so hard on the shoot, it is the first real styling I have ever done outside my blog. Styling was a lot different than I thought it would be, especially styling clothes which I was modeling. I am really proud of the work I did and it would not have been possible without the help from everybody at Plaid, especially Odessa Paloma Parker their Editorial Director and Mark Binks for taking those amazing photos. I had such a great time working with them and hope to work more together in the future. The article titled Daydream Believer came out yesterday and you guys can read it online here, as well as a quick link to the photos here.

Busy Painting and Exam Studying/Old Photo and Tired Old Me

This is an ancient photo of me, back from the holidays before a Christmas party my friend had. Its weird because I look a lot different right now then from this picture (style wise). But this picture will have to act as a place holder for now. I wish I could do a proper post this week but my life has been drowned with work and painting and studying. I have a summative painting due this Friday worth 30% of my final grade. stress, Stress, STRESS. I will probably take a picture of it later when it is done, but it is just a boring still life. Ew. I have been painting the same teapots and flowers for the last few weeks. If i have to paint another goddamn flower Im going to gouge my eyes out.
But on a lighter note I am pleased to inform you that a lot of cool stuff is coming up this month. There is not much I can say now, but when it comes its gonna be gooood. (Trust.)
And some cool outfit things too. I have basically blown all of my Christmas money already on clothes. I have been trying so hard to save up for a trip to New York with my art class coming up later this year. So I honestly have to find some restraint.
I cant wait for this semester to be done. Next semester is my "easy semester," that only includes one exam which is for science. Fashion and Art will be fun and Civics and Careers (i don't know of you have to take that course when you are in high school where you live, but in Canada it is a mandatory course) is easy breezy.

I have too much blue in my closet, I do not know what to do with it all. Blue sweaters, Blue dress', blue suede shoes. I need to find another colour to hoard. This is one of the many blue sweaters I have. It used to be bigger until it accidentally got mixed the laundry (I usually hand wash and dry it) and it shrunk 4 sizes.

Zink: Queen Of the Night

I did not get clothes this Christmas, but instead a contract stating that to have new clothes I will have to throw out old pieces. And since throwing away my old clothes is not in my agenda of tasks I want to fulfill I decided to do otherwise: start recycling things I do not wear into something I will wear. In conclusion creating one skirt out of three, I now have two open spaces in my closet which equals shopping this weekend! Hell yes.
